The Creative Kids After School Art Club is a four week after school art program for kids 6-12 years old.

In this after school session, kids will learn some of the fundamentals of drawing and have fun using drawing tools like charcoal pencils to add depth and dimension to their artwork. The After School Creative Art Club has sessions on Wednesdays. Sessions begin at 4pm and run until 5:15pm. All of our Creative Kids will receive a sketch book and pencils for their session.

They will also get a Creative Kids’ Art Club T-shirt at the end of the program!

The cost for a four week session (regular pick up time) $140 for four weeks – 5:15pm pick up time.

The cost for a four week session (late pick up time) $160 for four weeks – 6pm pick up time.

Drawing is one of the most important activities that budding artists can do. Drawing not only provides the basis for other creative activities – like painting, sculpture and printmaking – but it also provides a direct link with reading, writing and especially mathematics. The connection between drawing and geometric shapes and measurements simply cannot be denied. And do you know what else? Drawing is the single most accessible form of art available. All you need to start with is a pencil and a sheet of paper.

Week One – Drawing with Personality
Kids will learn how to draw animals and incorporate a sense of personality into their subjects. In this session we will also learn more about incorporating detail into our drawings.

Week Two – Abstract Drawing with Georgia Okeefe
Kids will learn how to develop abstract drawings by discussing and referring to the artwork of Georgia Okeefe. In this session we will also talk about warm and cool colours and how to incorporate them into your artwork.

Week Three – Landscape Drawing
Kids will develop simple landscape drawings and learn about the concept of the vanishing point. This session will introduce kids to one point perspective drawing.

Week Four – Drawing and Shading Still Life
In this session kids will be introduced to contour drawing and shading. We will discuss shadows and dimension in artwork. Students will choose a simple still life subject and experiment with charcoal pencils to add depth their drawings.
