Virtual Acrylics Landscapes Course – Beginners
In this fun and creative acrylic painting course we will tackle the most common elements that make up a classic landscape painting – skies, trees, water, mountains and textures like rock, wood and stone. Each of the course will start with simple studies and progresses you through to more challenging examples.
This is a four week course with two hour sessions. This course is perfect for beginners who would like to build their confidence and refine their acrylic painting skills as they apply to landscapes.
Course Goals: Develop two landscape paintings throughout the course of four classes. Develop your skills using a variety of brush types, blending techniques and layering techniques.
Image One – Week One: Underpainting
Start off by identifying complementary colours for the image and create a monochromatic underpainting to map out lights, shadows and composition.
Block in highlights and shadows in the image
Image One – Week Two: Details
Build up details on top of the highlights and shadows
Work on layering techniques to use the translucency of the paint to our advantage.
Image Two – Week Three: Underpainting
Review skills and build upon the knowledge. May use more than one colour of underpainting.
Block in the composition
Image Two – Week Four: Details
Build upon skills learned previously.
Use a variety of brushes
