Three days per week: $1845 +HST
Rather than asking every child to create the exact same result, our instructors introduce engaging techniques, materials and creative challenges—and then help each child develop their own ideas. No previous art experience is needed. Children are supported at their current skill level in a welcoming, small-group environment.
Creative Afternoons with a Lasting Impact
Parents may initially register because their child loves art or needs a positive afterschool activity. What they often begin to notice is something deeper. Through the creative process, children learn how to make choices, test ideas, adjust when something does not work and continue without needing every step to be perfect. At Fresh Paint Studio, children are encouraged to become active creative thinkers—not simply followers of instructions. Each project gives them room to develop technical skills while making decisions that allow their personalities and ideas to come through.

What Will My Child Learn?
A Rotating Program of Art, Making and Design
Children explore a thoughtful rotation of creative categories throughout the program. Projects are selected according to the children’s ages, experience and developmental readiness.
Every category introduces new techniques while encouraging personal choice, experimentation and age-appropriate creative challenges.
Watercolour Wonders
Watercolour teaches children to work with a material that can be fluid, surprising and beautifully unpredictable.
Rather than trying to control every mark, children learn how water, pigment and paper interact. They practise mixing colours, building texture and turning unexpected effects into part of their artwork.
Bold Strokes: Acrylic Painting
Acrylic paint is colourful, forgiving and easy to build in layers. It gives young artists the freedom to cover, revise, add texture and take creative risks. Children explore colour relationships, composition, pattern, layering and mixed-media techniques while creating complete pieces they can proudly display.
Hands in Clay
Clay introduces children to three-dimensional thinking. A clay project must not only look interesting—it also needs to balance, connect and hold together.
Children learn how to shape, join and strengthen clay while solving structural problems through hands-on experimentation.
Drawing
Drawing offers a low-pressure entry point into visual art while still building genuine observational and technical skills.
Children experiment with lines, shapes, proportion, shading, perspective and storytelling. Each session is designed to lead toward a completed drawing while leaving room for individual interpretation.
Young Designers
Young Designers is the program’s most solution-focused category. Children are given a practical or visual problem and challenged to develop an original response.
They learn that design is not only about making something attractive. It is about understanding a need, generating ideas, testing possibilities and improving a solution.
How a Session Unfolds

Individual Guidance
Instructors move carefully around the room, asking open questions, and offering custom prompts based on each child's style.
Share & Reflect
A warm wrap-up where children lay out finished pieces, discuss their choices, and tidy their personal studio stations.
Small Classes. Real Guidance.
Seen and Supported
Fresh Paint Studio keeps its afterschool art program classes small so instructors can provide meaningful one-on-one guidance. Some children arrive ready to work independently. Others need help choosing an idea, understanding a technique or continuing when a project becomes challenging.
Our instructors meet children where they are while helping them become more confident and self-directed over time. The goal is not perfection or identical artwork. It is thoughtful instruction, authentic creativity and visible growth.
